“It was the highlight of my summer.” That’s how high school senior Grady Harding described his first experience at ReachOut Camp. What started as a reluctant “yes”—nudged by a friend—turned into a week that changed everything. He came back the next year, not just as a camper, but as part of the planning committee, helping lead the very experience that transformed him.
That’s the magic of ReachOut.
For over 50 years, this week-long youth-led ministry has brought together students from eighth grade through high school graduation for something more than a summer camp. Hosted in the lakeside community of Lakeside, Ohio, it’s a space where worship, mission, and friendship collide under the stars.
Campers gather for live music and candlelit services. They dive into Bible studies, serve others, and hear stories that stick. Every element—from the music to the message—is planned by returning youth leaders, giving campers the chance to step into purpose and leadership.
But ReachOut’s heart beats strongest in its mission work. For two full days, campers spread across Northern Ohio—painting, planting, packing, teaching, and listening. They serve nonprofits, run Vacation Bible Schools, support veterans, and build friendships with individuals with developmental disabilities. "We just want to bring joy to people we don’t see every day,” Grady shared. “It’s about showing up and reminding them they matter.”
That spirit carries into the rest of the year through community partnerships and ministries like PB&J (Precious and Beloved by Jesus), founded by the Hardings to support families with special needs.
ReachOut isn’t just about one week. I’s a launchpad—for faith, for service, for lifelong friendships.
